Hello, I’m Sandra - the heart and hands behind Wholehearted Care.
Throughout 2023 I watched a number of loved ones brush up against or meet death, and it spurred within me a desire to know and do more. I took the plunge to understand a new field that has poked at my heart for some time: deathcare. I learned of a fascinating role that helps facilitate information, comfort, and support when it comes to end of life experiences: the presence of a death doula.
Death is inextricably personal, but deathcare doesn’t have to be scary, heavy or hard. It can be a beautiful reminder of a life well lived, empower people to ‘end well’ and make final wishes meaningful.
As a seasoned HR Executive, I have watched folks struggle with carrying grief throughout their careers. With expectations for productivity at an all time high, our modern day workplaces are not designed to hold space for sorrow, grief and loss. But what if they were….? Through intentional ‘rudders of action’ and collaborative creative endeavours, we can create grief-aware workplaces that support employees as they need it.
I want to make end of life experiences just as meaningful as a life well lived. I am here to provide emotional, physical, spiritual and informational support around death, dying and grief so people and caregivers feel informed, empowered and equipped to face this rite of passage.
